October 31

Pronounced sow - N to rhyme with “cow”. It is an ancient Celtic festival that celebrates the beginning of Winter and the Celtic New Year. The years ends October 30 and the new year starts on November 1 - which makes Samhain the day between years, also it’s the day that is talked about when some says a year and a day. Samhain means “end of Summer” - yet it marks the end of Fall - at one time we only had two seasons Summer and Winter - later Spring and Fall were added.  It was the last of the three harvest celebrations and it was a time when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest, making communications between the living and the dead possible.  It is a time to celebrate the ones who are now walking on the other side. Invite them to join the celebration.

We had two major Samhaim events 1998 we had a mini-festival with over 100 people in the Grove House Covenstead. Had a live band. 2000 held at the Painter Mt. Covenstead and we had many of the people from the Florida Coven attending.
